The Okra Project is a foundation that seeks to feed Black Trans groups culturally specific and healthy meals wherever they may be. The name behind the Okra Project stems from the Middle Passage in which African Americans snuck okra onto captive ships in order to sustain themselves. Okra was known for its versatility and health purposes, and in this spirit the Okra Project wishes to extend this same gratitude towards Black Trans people who struggle accessing these home cooked meals.
