The Vannie E. Cook Foundation was created in order to provide resources for cancer treatment, education, and research within the Rio Grande Valley. Established in 2001, the Vannie E. Cook Foundation has advocated for a Radiation Center in order to correctly and accurately examine and help cancer patients within the RGV.
As their influence and support grew, their accessibility to resources and research allowed them to grow their branches and centers in order to aid those who did not have access to these resources prior such as proper cancer treatment and education of how to approach said treatment.
